At the Village of Eden, a children’s home located in rural Busia, Uganda, our donors helped equip the only medical laboratory for hundreds of miles. 86,000 patient visits later thousands of lives have been changed.
The equipment we provided allows them to do complete blood workups, check for anemia and infection, run kidney and liver tests, test for HIV and so much more.
Their ability to check counts and adjust medications has been critical to the health of children at the home, particularly those who are living with the HIV virus. When malaria is diagnosed and anemia detected, they are able to transfer patients (usually children) to the closest in-patient facility where they receive immediate and sometimes life-saving treatment.
