Walker Center Update

Our Walker Center for Childhood Development in Guatemala provides early and effective interventions for children with developmental delays caused by neglect, abuse, and malnutrition. In the last year we have tripled the number of children receiving therapies, and our nutrition program now reaches 2,700 children at 52 homes.

Since 2017 our team has provided more than 15,000 therapies and helped 228 children overcome delays and reach their full potential.

Our lead heroes at the Walker Center are our directors, Luis Hurtado and Paolo Pichardo. This amazing couple just welcomed twins Ezra and Mateo into the world. The baby boys join big brother Joaquin to complete this beautiful family. But their growing family hasn’t slowed them down.

Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NPH), an orphanage in Honduras, requested and received their help as NPH plans for a new therapy center in Honduras. Last week a team from NPH visited the Walker Center in Guatemala and earlier this year, the World Orphan Fund took the first step in the process by agreeing to fund a speech therapist and a special educator.
