Emergency Funding for Abused Children – Casita Copan
Missionaries Mike and Karen Madsen alerted us that 13 children had been living in squalor at an orphanage in Copan Ruinas, Honduras. The children were suffering from malnutrition, physical abuse, and neglect before the government finally stepped in and shut it down.

The children, ages 3-14, were removed and taken to Casita Copan, an American run non-profit, with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. The non-profit, which provides daycare and support for single mothers, wasn’t equipped for a permanent population and had an immediate need for housing, caregivers, medical attention, food, counseling, school supplies, and clothing.
The World Orphan Fund made an emergency grant of $9,000 and committed to helping find a long term solution for the children.
