They Ran to Greet Us With Open Arms

When our team first visited Amazing Wonders Children’s Home in the Kahawa community outside Nairobi, the children ran to greet them—smiling, laughing, arms wide open. Their joy was unmistakable. 

But just beyond that joy was a reality that broke our hearts.

Amazing Wonders is home to children who once lived on the streets or came from situations shaped by poverty, abandonment, or grief. Inside these gates, they are known by name. They go to school. They sing. They pray. They learn—slowly, bravely—what it feels like to be safe.

But nearly 100 of them were sharing just two badly worn toilets and three unsafe bathing spaces. Rusted iron sheets. Long lines. Conditions no child should have to endure.

Because of you—and with the partnership of Manna Ministries—that story has changed.

Today, Amazing Wonders has four toilets, four bathrooms, proper showers, flush systems, and a steel water tower bringing clean water right to them. The rusted structures are gone. The long lines are gone. What remains is dignity.
